Being initially drawn by the shadows of trees she observed on the grass, she did a lot of exploring a process that didn't present the chosen object in a two-dimensional form on canvas. This way, the object is turned into a representation of the subject. This is especially true for living things as well as those that are likely to perish like fruit or human beings. Alexa Meade's painting style, which is very ephemeral in its nature, can be seen. The only piece from her work that is preserved is the photograph. Photography and painting are tightly coordinated to create a flat two-dimensional surface that is a trompe l'oeil. In certain places, three dimensions are observed, such as around the eye or on the hair. Meade frequently blends her painted characters in the 3D world that surrounds the figures. They interact within this self-created universe. The boundaries between performance, photography, and installation is thus broken.
